The C40 might be one of Yamaha's most inexpensive full-size classical models, but its quality and tone are outstanding.
This amazing masterpiece is made of rosewood, meranti, Nato, and spruce. This combination makes C40 a balanced sound with even response from both the highs and the lows - important for developing good technique from the start.

Also known as Classic or Concert body type, a small body guitar:

     Features
    • Has weaker bass sound.
    • Has a more focused tone especially in the middle range.
    • Produce a clearer and more articulate sound.

If the characteristics above fit the style you’re going for, then a small body guitar is a great choice.
A small body guitar is perfect for kids or beginners of smaller stature. This type is also popular among travelling guitarists because of its compact body size.

    Pros
    • The smaller body which means easier to hold and play
    • Produce a clearer and more articulate sound
    • Has a more focused tone

    Cons
    • Wider fretboard, meaning for beginners it will pose a problem in making a particular chord shape.
If you are interested to know more about types of design check out my other post here.

    MATERIAL USED
Like any other good quality guitar, Yamaha C40 is also build-up from high-quality woods.
Top of the guitar is made from spruce wood. Back and sides are made from meranti wood, the neck is made from nato wood. The fretboard is made from rosewood.

    STRING
Most of the traditional classical guitar used a nylon string. Even Yamaha C40 also uses a nylon string. It is not mandatory that every classical guitar use nylon string. There are some who use steel also.
But remember we can not interchange them.

    NYLON VS STEEL
Whether it is nylon or steel, they have their own purposes. Of course, the sound will slightly change. The main advantage of using nylon string over steel is that you will feel less pain while playing as compared to steel. So if you are an absolute beginner then this may be a great option.

    PLAYABILITY
It has no problem with the body shape when comes about comfortable. It is a lightweight guitar which is mandatory for beginners guitars. Actually, Yamaha C40 is meant for beginners.
The only problem it has is that the neck is way too wide for someone who just started learning. This means that the player will find difficult to make the chord shape,  especially barre chord shape.

    PROS

    • The sound quality is great. It is not easy to get at this price
    • Easy to carry around due to a smaller size
    • Very durable (since it is made from hardwoods)
    CONS
    • The neck is too wide for a beginner.

    LAST WORDS
No doubt classical guitars are a great option for beginners and also for professionals who love the sound of Spanish songs.

    HOPE YOU FIND IT HELPFUL
